You Love Your Dog, But Their Reactivity Is Taking Over Your Life

When you brought your dog home, you imagined peaceful walks, relaxed pub visits, and a life where your dog could just... be. Instead, you're managing constant anxiety, lunging, barking, and the overwhelming feeling that nothing you try actually works.

Every day feels like:

  • Dreading walks because you never know who or what will set them off
  • Constant barking at the door, neighbours, or anything that moves
  • Avoiding social situations because your dog can't cope
  • Feeling anxious about your dog's anxiety

And you've already tried:

  • Treat-based training that works in class but fails in real life
  • Avoiding triggers and managing distance
  • Focus cues, redirection, and impulse control exercises
  • Endless Google searches and conflicting advice

You're not failing. The methods you've been taught were never designed for reactive dogs.

Traditional dog training focuses on teaching commands, but a reactive dog isn't thinking, they're panicking. To see real change, we need to stop managing behaviour and start healing the emotion behind it.

The 4 Stepping Stones to a Resilient Dog

My Stepping Stones Method is a simple, progressive path that addresses what's really driving your dog's reactivity. This approach has helped dogs across Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Newham, and Hackney transform from reactive to resilient.

1

Compass

We start by setting clear goals, establishing a baseline, and creating a system to track your progress. This gives you direction and helps you see the transformation as it unfolds, so you always know where you're heading.

2

Safety

Using gentle Tellington TTouch bodywork and mindful handling, we help your dog feel safe in their own body. We also build safety in your relationship through caretaker skills and in their environment through lifestyle adjustments. This releases the physical tension that drives reactivity.

3

Resilience

We conduct a full lifestyle audit covering health, diet, sleep, breed-specific needs, and enrichment. This lowers your dog's overall arousal and builds their capacity to cope, giving them the mental space to learn and thrive.

4

Life Skills

Once your dog is regulated, we layer in practical training for real-life situations. This includes settle training, exercises for resource guarding, separation anxiety protocols, and off-lead communication. These skills hold up when real life happens.

Imagine Life When Your Dog Can...

Fast forward to a life where you pick up the lead and feel relief, not dread. Your dog walks loosely by your side, checks in instead of reacting, and can settle at home, in the park, and when friends visit.

With the Stepping Stones Method, your dog can learn to:

  • Walk on a loose lead without pulling, lunging, or bracing
  • Come back when you call, even with distractions
  • Relax at home or in public so life feels easy again
  • Cope with everyday triggers like traffic, doorbells, or sudden noises
  • Greet other dogs without jumping, barking, or panicking
  • Handle visitors with ease, no more barking or hiding
  • Feel safe when left alone, from short errands to full workdays
  • Share resources comfortably
  • Accept vet care and grooming with less stress
  • Wear harnesses and gear comfortably

And for you, that means:

  • A happier dog who can rest, play, and feel safe
  • Clearer communication and deeper trust between you and your dog
  • Less stress and more ease in how you support them
  • A relationship that feels like a partnership, not a power struggle
  • The freedom to live the life you imagined when you first got your dog

Why Traditional Dog Training Fails Reactive Dogs

If you're here, you've likely already tried the standard approach. The reason it didn't work is simple: it was designed for a different problem. Standard dog training teaches skills, it doesn't address anxiety and fear driving behaviour.

Traditional Dog TrainingThe Stepping Stones Method
Focus on commands and obedience (the mind)Focus on the nervous system and emotions (the body)
Use treats to distract from triggersAddress the root cause of the trigger
Try to suppress or punish the behaviourHelp the dog feel safe so the behaviour is no longer needed
Teach skills from day 1Build safety first, then layer in dog training once it can stick
Offer a one-size-fits-all solutionCreate a personalised plan based on your dog's unique needs

I'm not just a dog trainer; I'm a nervous-system electrician. We have to fix the wiring first. When your dog's state changes from panicked to peaceful, the behaviour follows, and the training finally sticks.

Is The Reactive to Resilient Programme Right For You?

This programme is for you if:

  • You're a committed dog caretaker in East London (Leytonstone, Walthamstow, Forest Gate, Aldersbrook, Leyton, Stratford, West Ham, Wanstead, or surrounding areas), ready to do the work to see real, lasting change.
  • You understand that this is a partnership, and you're ready to learn alongside your dog.
  • You're tired of quick fixes that don't last and are ready to invest in a holistic, long-term solution.

This programme is NOT for you if:

  • You're looking for a magic wand or an overnight fix for your dog's behaviour.
  • You're not willing to make adjustments to your dog's lifestyle, routine, or your own handling.
  • You believe that dominance or punishment are the only ways to train a dog.

If you're nodding along with the "for you" section, then you're in the right place.

Imagine a Life Without the Constant Stress

You won't have to use harsh corrections, prong collars, or anything that causes your dog pain or fear. Instead, you'll learn how to communicate with your dog using gentle, effective techniques that build trust, not break it.

You won't have to spend hours every day drilling commands. The TTouch techniques are done in 'moments not minutes' and can be easily integrated into your daily life. The lifestyle changes are simple but powerful.

You won't have to feel guilty or ashamed anymore. You'll have a clear plan, expert support, and a community of other dog caretakers who get it. You'll finally feel like you're doing the right thing for your dog.

I've Been in Your Shoes

My name is Meghan, and I've been working with dogs for 8 years. After 8 years of working with sensitive, anxious, and reactive dogs across East London, I've seen the same pattern on repeat: training alone isn't enough to shift reactivity.

That's why I created the Stepping Stones Method, a flexible relationship-based approach that blends trauma-informed dog training with gentle, body-based Tellington TTouch. I became a certified practitioner and saw the incredible transformations firsthand. Dogs that were once struggling were now thriving, happy, and able to enjoy their lives.

I developed this programme to bring this powerful approach to more dog caretakers across Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Newham, and Hackney. I've combined my years of hands-on experience with the science of TTouch to create a programme that gets real, lasting results. My mission is to help caretakers live the life they imagined when they first got their dogs.

Real Results from Dog Caretakers in East London

"Before we started working with Meghan, we were at a bit of a loss on how to handle some of our Welsh Terrier's more difficult behaviours: resource guarding, reactivity and general anxiety. Working with Meghan has been truly transformational for us and our dog (having had little success with previous behaviourists / trainers). Our dog is now much happier and content and we now understand how best to meet our dogs needs."

— Greg Atkins

"The issue became serious when Ziggy bit my girlfriend's son on the arm to warn him off. From the off Meghan made me feel very at ease that this behaviour could be corrected. We worked with Meghan for just over 6 months and what a difference she made. Ziggy's behaviour has changed so much, from his lead walking, safe guarding and overall manner. He's happier living with a full family."

— Greg Ward

"We had 3 sessions with Meghan to address the reactivity of our pup, Winnie. Meghan's approach was thoughtful, gentle and focussed around Winnie and her needs. It has been effective in a manner which has been extremely gratifying to us, Winnie is behaving better not through control or coercion, but by having her needs better met and being a happier dog."

— Edward Brunet

Your Questions, Answered

Will this work if I've already tried another trainer?

Yes. In fact, most of my clients have. Traditional training often fails because it doesn't address the root cause of reactivity, a dysregulated nervous system. We start there, which is why this approach works when others don't.

How soon will I see results?

You'll feel a sense of relief and clarity after my very first onboarding session. Most clients report seeing a noticeable shift in their dog's arousal and behaviour within the first 1-2 weeks as we implement the lifestyle changes. By week 6, we aim for a measurable reduction in outbursts, intensity, and recovery time.

Is my dog too old/anxious/rescue for this?

Not at all. This method is built for sensitive, easily overwhelmed dogs. We go at your dog's pace, prioritise safety, and build skills incrementally. It's perfectly suited for rescue dogs, adolescents, and those with a long history of anxiety.

What if I'm short on time?

I get it, you're busy. The programme is designed for real life. The TTouch bodywork is done in 'moments not minutes,' and the lifestyle adjustments are about working smarter, not harder. The in-person sessions are scheduled bi-weekly to give you time to practise and integrate the learnings without feeling overwhelmed.

What's included in the price?

The Reactive to Resilient programme is a comprehensive, 8-week container of support. It includes the initial onboarding session and lifestyle audit, four private in-person coaching sessions, and all five bonuses: the private group chat for daily support, weekly classroom calls for accountability, the In Sync mini-course, the TTouch Learning Library, and your equipment discount. Payment plans are available.

The Walk to Heal Resilience Guarantee

I am so committed to this programme that I'm willing to take on all the risk. If you show up to every session, do the work, and log your progress, I guarantee you will see a measurable reduction in your dog's anxiety and reactivity by the end of my 6th week together.

If you don't, I will continue to work with you for two additional weeks, completely free of charge, to get you there.

What does "measurable" mean? Fewer outbursts, lower intensity, faster recovery time, or an increased ability to disengage from triggers. You do the work, I carry the risk. The only thing you have to lose is the dread on your daily walk.
